Holidaymakers on an open-top bus had a miracle escape today when it toppled over after a horror crash.Trapped passengers, on the bottom deck of the number 50 Swanage to Bournemouth bus, scrambled across seats and smashed glass to reach emergency exits to get to safety.Police said that everyone on board was "incredibly lucky" after the bus and ejected passengers landed on a soft heather verge.Children's inflatable beach toys, including a beach ball and life float as well as a seat cushion, were scattered in the surrounding area.Police Sergeant Nikki Burt said: "When I heard the reports I was expecting the worst. If it hadn't been for the soft landing on the verge, I think the injuries would have been a lot more serious."Amazingly the most serious injury was a 61-year-old woman who suffered a broken arm. Other passengers suffered cuts and bruises. The accident in Dorset happened after a Porsche sports car crashed head-on with the bus and a Volkswagen Golf as it drove away from the chain ferry which links Studland with the exclusive Sandbanks peninsular.Police said that the 43-year-old Porsche driver had been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving. The wrecked Porsche after the accident

About 15 people were on the top deck, with eight downstairs when the bus collided with the cars before toppling on to heathland.A couple and their two children travelling in the Golf were airlifted by Coastguard helicopter to Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester.
